Description

Using his excellent diplomatic skills, Hallstein was crucial in the negotiations for the creation of the European Coal and Steel Community. He would also be a proponent for the European Economic Community, and he would later become the president of its commission. During his tenure, he would be responsible for consolidation of European law as well as speeding up integration among the nations.
