Dolph Hollender Hall (October 10, 1901 - July 19, 1949) was born in Knott County, Kentucky to Miles Hall and Clarinda Caudill. Hall attended the Caney Creek Community Center and Caney Junior College, schools for mountain youth which later became Alice Lloyd College. He served as Alice Lloyd's chief assistant and taught at Knott County High School before attending the University of Kentucky College of Law. Hall practiced law in Knott County. He also acted as counsel for the Caney Creek schools. Hall married June Buchanan on June 14, 1934. Buchanan was a co-founder of what became Alice Lloyd College. A preparatory school on the College's campus is named for her. She is also the namesake of a medical center in Hindman operated by the University of Kentucky.
