John Peirce Crosby (September 15, 1905 - March 1, 1948) was born in Kirkwood, Missouri to Benjamin Crosby and Eliza Pitman. Crosby practiced law in Lexington with a focus on civil cases. He served with the United States Army during World War II in a company of military police between 1942 and 1944. Between 1944 and 1945, Crosby was assigned to Judge Advocate General's Corps and served in Burma and India. He co-formed the firm on Mooney, Crosby, and Clay after his discharge from the military. Crosby married Celeste Royster Thompson on December 25, 1937.
