John Emerson McGurk (March 5, 1906 - January 1, 1972) was born in Georgetown, Kentucky to James McGurk and Anna Jane Mulholland. McGurk practiced law in Lexington before transitioning to work for the United States Internal Revenue Service as a criminal investigator in the alcohol tax unit. He married Anna Horton.
