Robert Lee Moss (June 22, 1902 - September 23, 1988) was born in Mount Sterling, Kentucky to Nathaniel Oscar Moss and Alice Horton. He was employed by the federal government at the Bluegrass Army Ordnance Depot. Moss later moved to San Bernardino County, California. He and his wife operated the Fontana Convalescent Hospital. Moss married Nancy Eleanor Merry.
