This is the first of five long narrative poems, or the Panj Ganj (the Five Treasures), written by the Persian poet widely known as Nizami (d. 1209 AD). Originally published around 1165 AD, The Storehouse of Mysteries consists of 20 stories in verse centered on religious and ethical themes. Nizami’s poetry conveys a profound understanding of Islamic theory and law, history, mathematics, ethics, medicine, astronomy and alchemy. Nizami’s work has long been revered, and he continues to be recognized as an eminent Persian romantic epic poet.

This 23 cm manuscript is currently bound in brown and red leather.
