This is a manuscript of the Dala’il al-Khayrat, translated as “The Waymarks of Benefits and the Brilliant Burst of Sunshine” or “The Guide of Goodness in Praising the Prophet.” The Dala’il al-Khayrat is a manual of blessings on the Prophet Muhammad (Allah bless him and give him peace) penned by Abu Abdillah Muhammad Ibn Sulaiman Al-Jazool (d. 1465 AD). The original author, also known as Imam Al-Jazuli, was a 15th century Moroccan member and Sufi leader of the Berber tribe of the Jazulah. This manuscript was likely penned by one of Imam Al-Jazuli’s students or followers.
The Dala’il al-Khayrat is a devotional prayer book divided into seven sections. It was the first major work in Islamic history to compile peace litanies, prayers, epithets, and blessings upon the Prophet (Allah bless him and give him peace). The second exhibit featured image from the manuscript depicts some of Allah’s attributes on the right page and a map showing the locations of the graves of the first two caliphs, Abu Bakr and Omar, and the Prophet (Allah bless him and give him peace) on the left page.
The 17 cm manuscript is bound in embossed brown leather with a green cloth-wrapped cover flap.
