Description
This a hand-embroidered huipil made on black velvet. Takes months to finish embroidering on a loom. Much more expensive than daily wear, often beyond the possibilities of working class women. This is for fiestas. Worn with a skirt of velvet with the same design. The trajes (ensembles) of the Istmeñas include the huipil, skirt, petticoats, and other details and can be very expensive running from $100 to thousands of dollars.
