Description

Fly Ash Harvesting: Simultaneous Drying, Sizing, and Carbon Reduction Demonstration Authors Mr. Scott Coley - United Kingdom - Atritor Ltd. Mr. Doug Widener - United States - Titan America Mr. Frank Hrach - United States - ST Equipment & Technology LLC Mr. Lewis Baker - United States - ST Equipment & Technology LLC Mr. Andrew Rigg - United Kingdom - Atritor Ltd. Abstract With commercial interest in harvesting fly ash from legacy stockpiles growing rapidly in response to increased demand and lack of supply of freshly produced fly ash, two leading companies in the fields of drying/ sizing, and electrostatic carbon separation, combined to provide a live demonstration event showcasing their technologies for the harvesting and beneficiation of stockpiled ash to meet the quality demands of the construction industry. Atritor – a manufacturer of drying, milling, and deagglomeration solutions – and ST Equipment and Technology (STET), a provider of technology in carbon separation from fly ash, came together in Coventry UK, to provide a live demonstration of the solution to use harvested fly ash from stockpiles in the construction industry, to over 50 key stakeholders in the concrete and minerals market. The two companies hosted the event to show the market how the two technologies work perfectly together. Fly Ash from stockpiles in the UK was dried, milled, deagglomerated and carbon separated using STET’s combustion-free process to produce Fly Ash to global Standards, such as EN 450-1, that can be used in cement and concrete. The live event delivered outstanding results, even with variable feed materials from across the UK.
