William Rufus Bringhurst Mellor III (February 20, 1913 - April 2, 1980) was born in Mobile, Alabama to William R. Bringhurst, Jr. and Laurie Anne Price. Mellor took his stepfather's last name (Mellor) prior to attending the University of Kentucky. He practiced law in Louisville. Mellor married Virginia Williams McGowan in 1939.
