Garnett Robert Burks (November 7, 1908 - January 1972) was born in Las Vegas, New Mexico to Garnett Burks and Maria Laughlin. Burks practiced law in Socorro, New Mexico and neighboring cities. He also served as a district court judge in Socorro between 1955 and 1971. Burks was succeeded in this position by his son, Garnett Burks, Jr. Burks served in the United States Army during World War II. He married Marian Baldwin.
