Edwin Ray Denney (March 8, 1904 - June 22, 1986) was born in Griffin, Kentucky to Joseph Ryan Denney and Hattie Lovelace. Denney practiced law in Lexington and Mount Vernon, Kentucky. He served as a representative for Rockcastle County in the Kentucky General Assembly in the 1946 session. Denney was minority floor leader for the session. He served as a Circuit Judge for Rockcastle and the surrounding counties between 1946-1947. Denney was the United States District Attorney for Eastern Kentucky between 1953 and 1955. He unsuccessfully ran for Governor in 1955. Denney married Elinor Kundert on September 27, 1939.
