Elmer Hanks Drake (May 5, 1902 - May 12, 1956) was born in Campton, Kentucky to James Drake and Lucy Hanks. Drake received a bachelor's degree from Kentucky Wesleyan College in 1927. He practiced law in Lexington after receiving his LL.B.. He served several terms as Fayette Republican chairman, as Sixth District Republican chairman, and as a member of the Republican Central Committee. He twice served as a delegate to the Republican National Convention. Drake was also an assistant attorney general for the Commonwealth of Kentucky and occasionally served as a special circuit judge throughout the state. He married Della Soard in 1934.
