William Bush Gess (October 16, 1906 - March 29, 1985) was born in Lexington, Kentucky to William Gess and Naomi Graves Bush. Gess received an A.B. degree in 1928 and an LL.B. in 1930 from the University of Kentucky. He practiced law in Lexington with a focus on civil matters and equine law. He co-founded the firm of Gess, Mattingly, Saunier & Atchison in 1954. He served as assistant corporate counsel for Lexington between 1931 and 1935. Gess also served as counsel for the Kentucky Bar Association beginning in 1980. He married Jane Hamilton in 1951.
