Woodson Dennie Scott (July 19, 1899 - April 26, 1982) was born in Garrard County, Kentucky to Dennie Scott and Bessie Ford. Scott first attended Georgetown College before graduating from the University of Kentucky College of Law. Scott practiced with the New York City firm on Lord, Day & Lord after graduation. He worked for this firm for over 50 years. In addition to his legal career, Scott served on the board of directors of the National Rifle Association. He served a term as president of the Association between 1969-1971. Scott married twice--his wives were Clara Walch (m. 1934, d. pre-1946) and Jenny Gates (m. 1946).
