Taylor Gordon Smith (August 28, 1899 - January 4, 1959) was born in Clay County, Kentucky to Nathaniel Smith and Rachel Virginia Craft. Smith first attended Sue Bennett College in London, Kentucky. Smith stayed in Lexington to practice law after graduating from the University of Kentucky. He married Wavelyne Hanks in 1929.
