Robert Hugh Tomlinson, Jr. (April 25, 1896 - July 15, 1955) was born in Lancaster, Kentucky to Robert Hugh Tomlinson, Sr. and Lula Marrs. He received an A.B. degree from DePaw University before attending the University of Kentucky. After receiving his LL.B., Tomlinson practiced law in Cincinnati, Ohio in the firm of McCoy and McCoy. Tomlinson returned to Lexington in 1927 and practiced there until his retirement in 1943. He married Agnes Gertrude Flora in 1946.
