Grover Cleveland Thompson (January 10, 1885 - August 25, 1967) was born in Lawrence County, Kentucky to James Franklin Thompson and Amanda Watson. He first attended the Cincinnati Business College and the Western Kentucky State Teachers College. Thompson taught school in Kentucky, Mississippi, and Louisiana before attending the College of Law. He and his brother Linzy practiced law together in Lexington as the firm of Thompson and Thompson. Thompson married Virginia (Jennie) Lee Gill in 1909. Their son, Grover Cleveland Thompson, Jr., joined his father's law practice.
*Grover Cleveland Thompson is listed as sophomore in the 1910 volume of The Kentuckian. However, he is listed in the Board of Trustees minutes as receiving an LL.B. in 1910.
