Description
Natural resource management in cold temperate rangelands requires a comprehensive approach and must deal with considerable complexity. This paper presents the second of two proposed strategies for these rangelands: develop and apply an integrated, internationally co-ordinated, natural resource decision-support system. Such an approach should enable land managers to balance uses to maintain soil, water, flora and fauna resources al acceptable quality levels, Natural resource agencies and groups should collaborate on standards for developing the software in the system. The approach of one natural resource agency is presented here and offered here as one element for further discussion of a co-ordinated effort.
