Abstract
IN THE FLESH is a nonfiction collection by Bell McEntire Mason, in which she illustrates a life dominated by the corporeal, embodied, and incarnate experience of physicality. Consisting primarily of personal essay, lyric essay, and flash nonfiction, the collection follows a journey of bodily understanding and acceptance that braids itself with the author’s life experiences, ranging from battles with mental health and physical illness to tender and painful relationships with family to looming acknowledgement of a body’s temporary status.
