Abstract

This collection of stories moves to address mental health issues specifically in the black community and amongst black women. The stories address the loneliness and isolation that people feel throughout their lifetime and the universality of that loneliness. These stories showcase women who all feel the gravity of bearing burdens alone while trying to claim their identity. Whether that be trying to find their mental stability, understand what it means to be black, and what it means to be a woman, all of these stories highlight the confusion and pain of trying to find those answers. While they themselves feel alone in their struggles, they all share a common thread of perseverance in their own way and can connect through their pain.
