Description
The state of Kentucky took on the national prejudice toward African Americans and the perceived use of cocaine. Cocaine became illegal in the United States in 1914. But prior to that year, cocaine was broadly available to the general public and had been used in an array of products for children and adults. Also, it was prescribed by doctors on a regular basis.
