Description
In 1947, Preston Dyer, stable manager for William Randolph Hearst’s San Simeon Stable, headed an exploratory expedition to the Middle East to bring back Arabian horses for breeding. The traveling party was gone six months, traveled over 25,000 miles, and viewed over 3,000 horses - returning to the U.S. with six stallions and eight mares. These photographs, part of the International Museum of the Horse Preston Dyer Collection, were taken during the 1947 voyage.
