Description
Boston was the undisputed champion of American Thoroughbred racing in the 1830s.
He was bred by Virginia attorney John Wickham who lost the horse in a game of cards to Nathaniel Reeves, another Virginia native.
Boston, named after a popular card game, won 40 of 45 races, claiming 15 of those wins in succession.
He was the leading sire, posthumously, in North America for three years between 1851 and 1853.
Arguably his best son, Lexington, was born the spring after his death in 1850.
