Description

After facing imprisonment during World War II for his opposition to Nazism, Adenauer would go on to become chancellor of West Germany. He would spend this time trying to reconcile with Germany’s former enemies and support the European Coal and Steel Company. He would continue to promote the idea of an integrated Europe with the signing of the Elysee Treaty with France—creating peace between the nations.
