Description
With the impending finalization of the proposed legacy CCR SI Rule, several changes are expected to the definition and requirements for legacy CCR sites including CCRMUs. As utilities prepare to conduct the CCRMU Facility Evaluation Reports for legacy CCR sites, the challenge is now knowing where to look and anticipate where CCR may be. This presentation provides a description of the CCR that has been located/discovered as part of the demolition and decommissioning (D&D) of former coal-fired power plants and based on these historical locations the anticipated challenges as utilities address requirements within the proposed legacy CCR SI Rule. Case histories will be provided to further illustrate where CCR has been located, how it has been addressed, and recommendations/considerations based on the revised rule.
