(RECON) – Evergreen, Colorado Whether CCR facility closure is performed using clean closure or closure-in-place processes, various work elements can substantially benefit using instrumentation to provide the data and drive the decisions needed to support safe productive site operations, reduce environmental impacts from operations, enhance quality management, monitor, and assess progress, direct field oversight, and ensure regulatory compliance. Given recent strides in field instrumentation systems and data architecture, it is now possible to develop a fully interactive series of instrumentation elements to assess, manage, direct, and document all facets of construction programs. The collective benefit of these processes can be accrued through management of each of the following, among others: • Ground Control • Geotechnical Stability • Water Quality • Water Flow Rates and Discharge • Dust Emissions • Vibrations • Field Observation • Equipment Load Factors • Haul Road Maintenance • Productivity Assessments This paper provides a summary of the ease with which these instrumentation elements can be routinely deployed, their functionality and value, and the expansive documentation that can be provided.
