Abstract
The equity gap between Black Americans and white Americans is a persistent social issue. This equity gap presents itself in a variety of measures – wealth accumulation, homeownership, healthcare, educational achievement, financial stability, and more. Locally, the Lexington Black Prosperity Initiative, a program of the Blue Grass Community Foundation, is primarily focused on strengthening Lexington’s Black community and closing this equity gap. The initiative was established in 2020. As the Lexington Black Prosperity Initiative enters its fourth year of operations, they are seeking to expand their reach within the community by enacting long-lasting and sustainable programs that will work to close the equity gap and wealth gap within Lexington.
