Marianna Devereux Deboor (LL.B., 1921)
Marianna Devereux was born on December 19, 1896 to Patrick B. and Ella S. (Flynn) Devereux in Lexington, Kentucky. Devereux was an accomplished pianist--she earned a piano teacher certification from St. Catherine's Academy and often performed at weddings.
Devereux graduated from the University of Kentucky College of Law in 1921. She went on to take the Kentucky legal practice licensing examination that July. It is unclear if Devereux practiced law prior to her marriage; however, her occupation in post-graduation censuses is never listed. Devereux married Matthew James Deboor (1895-1967) sometime after her graduation. Mr. Deboor served as vice president and assistant manager at the Lexington Laundry Company.
Ms. Deboor died on December 15, 1985 and is buried at Calvary Cemetery in Lexington.
