Charles Wylie (October 2, 1907 - March 28, 1998) was born in Jessamine County, Kentucky to Robert Wylie and Nannie Blakeman. Wylie received a bachelor's degree from Transylvania University in 1932. He practiced law in Lexington. Wylie served one term in the Kentucky General Assembly's House of Representatives representing Jessamine County between 1935-1937. He served in the United States Army during World War II. He then worked as a distilled spirits administrator for the Kentucky Alcoholic Beverage Control Board. In 1952, Wylie was elected Fayette County Attorney. He was elected to the Lexington Board of City Commissioners in 1965 and was elected Lexington's mayor in 1967. Wylie married Margaret Lewis in 1933.
