Martha Townsend Manning (January 29, 1908 - September 14, 1995) was born in Mason County, Kentucky to William Manning and Emily Harrison. She received an A.B. degree from Western State Teachers College before attending the University of Kentucky. Manning practiced in Maysville, Kentucky. She was Maysville's first woman lawyer and the first woman to serve as a police judge in the city. Manning married John Ault, Jr. in 1939. The couple moved to Lexington when Manning's term as police judge ended in 1942. The couple later lived in Florida and Georgia.
