Elijah Strother Melton (January 21, 1903 - December 24, 1975) was born in McCracken County, Kentucky to Elijah Spencer Melton and Sarah Wise. Melton co-founded an insurance corporation in Paducah, Woodall and Melton, Inc., after graduation. Melton served as a Senator for the 2nd District in the Kentucky General Assembly for 18 years.
