Richard William Hagan (December 13, 1895 - December 11, 1979) was born in Vine Grove, Kentucky to Edward Lee Hagan and Elizabeth Hart. Hagan served as a deputy sheriff for Elizabethtown before attending the University of Kentucky. He returned to Elizabethtown after graduation and worked as an insurance salesman for the Fidelity & Causality Co. of New York. He married Mildred Graves in 1937.
