The Inner Mon��olia autonomous region covers a total area of 1.15 million km . It has 80 million hectares of natural grass land which makes up 68 .41 % of the whole autonomous region. It is an important base of animal husbandry in our country. This new map (on the scale of 1:1,500,000) is based on data provided by visual interpretation of LANDSAT MSS, TM, RBV imageries and collection in field surveys. This map is one of the series maps which reflect different natural conditions of Inner Mongolia. The other maps are also made mainly through LANDSAT imagery visual interpretation. The aim of grassland, forest and other renewable resources of this region in order to supply usefull information for utilization and management of the natural environment.
