Description
There are about 900 000 km2 grassland in Inner-Mongolia including meadow steppe, typical steppe and desert steppe. It is the major basis of herbivorous animal products - beef, mutton, milk and leather (Fig. 1). Grassland research had been made many times in InnerMongolia region. Because the area is so vast that it needs ten more years to accomplish a general survey of grassland only applying satellite data can supply the macroscopic thematic maps for basic construction of grassland in shorter time. Besides supplying feed to the animals, the grassland has the important action for the improvement of regional environment, water and soil conservation and upholding of ecological equivalence. So the grassland was the special type in ecological system.
