Description
Little is known of root growth dynamics of perennial grasses in relation to time of year and vegetative shoot development. Characterizing root growth as influenced by shoot manipulation would aid in understanding plant response to management and environmental variables. Frequency of cutting or grazing and the use of seedhead-suppressing chemicals are two management tools available for manipulating shoot growth. The objective of this research was to study changes in root and shoot growth of bermudagrass as influenced by cutting frequency and seedhead suppression.
