Description
The plateau lies in the northern part of Hebei (Hopei) Province. The topography is a little higher in the border area, but the relative altitude is only about 50 metres with the ground undulating slightly. The soil belongs to the chestnut type. Influenced by the temperate semi-arid climate, here grows steppe vegetation. Jia Sixie, the famous agronomist of the Northern Wei Dynasty, pointed out in his great work Main Skills of the Masses "Confrom to the climate and take advantage of the land, you will harvest more with less labour." So the study of natural vegetation in the area is really of great necessity in determining the direction of the vegetation resource utilization there. Through practical field investigation, we have found out the steppe resources and the vegetation features on the plateau. So, according to the local conditions, we can determine the direction of the resource utilization in the region and work out the measures to be taken at present.
