Abstract
This excerpt of the short story cycle-in-progress, Between this World and Another, follows one central character, Luke McCormick, from his childhood through his rise as union leader, to his burnout, and then towards his revival. These stories explore how people navigate trauma and capitalism. They ask how transformation and healing occurs or fails to occur, both personally and societally.
