Abstract

Oral health disparities remain a major public health issue in the United States, particularly in rural Kentucky, with barriers such as limited access to preventive dental services, transportation, and insurance coverage contributing to delayed treatment and worsening oral health outcomes. In response, the proposed Rural Oral Health Access Coordination Program aims to improve care access by strengthening referral systems, integrating oral health screenings into public health settings, and enhancing care coordination for high-risk populations. The program intends to focus on the Kentucky River District Health Department Region, connecting individuals to existing services rather than providing direct clinical care. Expected outcomes include increased dental visit completion rates and reduced delays in care, ultimately helping to reduce disparities.
