Description

Precipication is the major climatic factor affecting plant growth on arid rangelands of the southwestern United States. Soil water on floodplain sites is derived from infiltration of precipitation and run-in water from adjacent slopes. We characterized the soil matric potential at three floodplain locations, to help understand the functioning of the soil water component of the floodplains ecosystem of arid rangelands.
