Abstract
Este estudio nace de la pregunta sobre si los textos humorísticos pueden servir como construcciones histórico-sociales de la verdad. Tradicionalmente, la comedia y sus derivados han sido confinados a la categoría de géneros menores. No obstante, aparte de su función catártica, los textos humorísticos pueden tener una función cognitiva y pragmática de primer orden. Este trabajo hace uso de valiosos marcos teóricos tales como la teoría sobre la narrativa oral (Labov y Waletzky, 1966; Labov 1979), el análisis crítico del discurso (Fairclough, 1995, 2001; van Dijk, 2000, 2011, Charaudeau, 2015), el valor discursivo de la argumentación (Alcaide Lara, 2000; Kreichman, 2000; de la Fuente García, 2005) y la teoría general del humor verbal (Raskin, 1985; Attardo, 1994, 2001; Ruiz Gurillo, 2012) para explicar la función lingüística y argumental del monólogo humorístico y con esto revaluar su dimensión discursiva, cognitiva y pragmática. Para tal fin, se analiza un monólogo del comediante venezolano Emilio Lovera (1961), para quien la razón humorística puede explicar lo absurdo.
This study explores the question of whether humorous texts can be taken as socio-historical constructions of truth. Traditionally, comedy and its derivate have been considered minor genres. Nonetheless, setting aside its cathartic function, these texts can have important cognitive and pragmatic functions. The present study employs several well-established theoretical frameworks such as critical discourse analysis (Fairclough, 1995, 2001; van Dijk ,2000, 2011, Charaudeau, 2015); argumentation and discourse (Alcaide Lara, 2000; Kreichman, 2000; de la Fuente García, 2005); and the general theory of verbal humor (Raskin, 1985; Attardo, 1994, 2001; Ruiz Gurillo, 2012) in order to explain the linguistic and argumentative functions of the stand-up comedy and to reevaluate its discursive, cognitive, and pragmatic dimensions. To this end, this analysis is based on a monologue by the Venezuelan comedian Emilio Lovera (1961), for whom comic reason can explain the absurd.
