Description

Coal Ash Constituents and Treatment Options Authors Mrs. Christine Harris - United States - Groundwater Treatment and Technology, LLC (GWTT) Mr. Rob Orlando - United States - Groundwater Treatment and Technology, LLC (GWTT) Abstract This presentation will open with a review of the information required to design a water treatment system to meet discharge requirements, including how the constituents may change as the ash is dewatered. Attendees will then be invited to spin the wheel of constituents. Based on water samples results, there are many potential constituents in coal ash. This presentation will cover the eight (8) most common constituents and potential treatments. Additionally, interactions between certain coal ash constituents and impact of treatment will be covered. Attendees will leave with an understanding of the eight most common coal ash constituents and treatment options. Additionally, they will understand the treatment challenges when there are “competing” constituents in the ash. Finally, attendees will be able to visualize what a potential treatment system layout would be.
