Description
Clover-grass silages have been made in tower silos using formic acid or a formaldehyde +formic acid mixture (67: 33) as additives. Untreated controls were included. The storage losses were recorded and the feeding values of the different silages compared in experiments with growing heifers. Both additives decreased storage losses and improved the feed efficiency measured as consumption of metabolizable energy per kg weight gain.
