Description

In case of Claviceps purpurea(Fr.) Tul. different physiological forms exist that stand out for preferred infestation of certain species of grass­es. In the conidia contained in honeydew longish and circular types can be distinguished. The shape of the conidia, however, is deter­mined primarily by the respective host plant and cannot be regarded as characteristic feature of a special form of Claviceps purpurea (Fr.) Tul.
