Description
Experiments carried out between 1966 and 1972 have shown that even on light soils the productivity of pastures can be considerably increased by combining intensive fertilization with sprinkling irrigation. This yield increment would allow an extra milk production of approximately 2,000 kg per hectare, a fact stressing the economic efficiency of sprinkling irrigation. Sprinkling results in a more steady yield increment in the course of the growing season as well as in a higher feeding value of the green matter.
