Description

Average forage yields of 10.6 to 15.3 tons of dry matter per hectare have been obtained with 100 to 500 kg N/ha under the conditions of subsoil irrigation with water of 0.3 % salt content and an overall soil salinity of 0.15 to 0.27 %. Highest yields for grazing have been obtained from mixtures with Lolium perenne, and top yields for mowing were produced by sown swards containing Lolium multiflorum. With the exception of some species with increased Na and Cl contents (positive reaction) there were no major changes in forage quality.
