Description

The biochemical effect of heavy fertilization with nitrogen and potassium on the yield and the quality of the crop was investigated. The results of experiments performed with both monocotyledonous and dicotyledonous plants indicate that in order to produce a valuable crop of forage plants the nitrogen to potassium ratio must be adjusted in such a way that the nitrates, amines, and nitrosoamines in the plant remain at a low level. Nitrogen and po­tassium fertilization leads to changes in the accumulation of other minerals in the plants.
