Description

In the Lewitz, a region with a large share of grassland, an efficient centre of heifer raising with an annual output of 5,000 head was established with the help of our socialist State. Heifer production in the "Lewitz" State farm is being expanded on account of the positive experience gained. Industrialized heifer raising allows grazing and makes it economically advisable. The advantages of grazing can be adequately linked with the requirements of intensive young-cattle raising. Grazing herds of 200 to 500 head of young cattle puts higher demands on the herdsmen than indoor keeping in summer. This kind of grazing must be carefully prepared and managed using scientific 'llethods of work organization.
