Description

Young-cattle rearing along ind us trial lines involves a general increase ofrearing standards. When pasturing large herds of young cattle it is difficult to achieve high live weight gain. Factory-like milk production requires not only optimal live weight development of the heifers but also an excellent state of health of the animals' legs. The latter is achieved more easily through pasturing than by way of indoor rearing of the youngstock. The intensification of young-cattle rearing includes the intensification of pasture rearing as well. Young-cattle rearing along industrial lines brings up new problems to be solved by technological research workers.
