Description
The fresh forage supply of a 2000-head dairy farm with clover/grass and red clover, 'Perenta' variety, is possible from about the third pentad of May up to the second pentad of September. For this, 740 hectares have to be harvested, i.e. 4 to 9 ha per day. The mean energy concentration of the fresh forage amounts to 562 energetic feed equivalents (cattle) per kg DM. The lowest values of 507 and 510 energetic feed equivalents (cattle) per kg DM are obtained in the second growth of clover/grass in the third and fourth pentads of July, respectively, and the highest values, i.e. about 600 energetic feed equivalents (cattle) per kg DM, are obtained in May and September.
